News items at JUW...

News no.1:
HEADLINE: Auditions for hosting at mass communication department.

On 18th february,friday,hosting auditions takeplace at BS-3rd year,mass communication department.4 girls were taking part in it,out of them 2 were reached to the finals through students voting and after hat 1 girl had won. The girl who had won get the chance to host the
"COME CONNECT" event which is arranged by the students of Mass Communication on 27th february.

News no.2:
HEADLINE: Usage of mobile phones are prohibited at library.

1 of the rule of JUW is that
                        "anyonewho is using cell phone in library have to pay fine"
But when i visit library i saw many of students using cell phones and listening mp3.Then i talk to miss Sophia,head of library and ask her that could she really charge students than she told: 
                       "We don't let them use mobile phones if anybody caught on
                        calls or listening mp3,we grab it and return it to them when
                        they leave the room but we don,t charge them fine."  
The rules mention in the entrance of library are just like a reading element.No one is following it.

HEADLINE:Parlour at educational institute.

On 18th february,Friday,2 girls sitting at the roof stairs of college section and doing hand wax of eachother.

Guest lecture at Jinnah university..

On 29 jan 2011,Owais Mangalwala,the documentry film maker and the host of the program "Citizen Journalist" at Dawn News came to Jinnah University and gave lecture on Citizen Journalism.He is an anchor and producer of show "state of shria" and "citizen jornalist".
          He told that the Citizen Journalist is a person who use use the tools of journalism and delivered the news.We need a Citizen Journalist because our reporter can't reach at every place.He had an interactive session with students.Mr. Owais told the key points which are important for Citizen Journalist.
  • Inevitably is to be real.
  • Start reporting from common events,dn't wait for big event.
  • Be expressive,write your own point of view.
  • Be accurate,always report with right facts.
  • dn't ever copy.
  • always remember that:
                                 'Everyone can be a reporter and everything canbe reported'
                        After guest lecture, Miss Humera,Teacher of mass communication department, share her thoughts and say thanks to Mr.Mangalwala and appreciate the presence of her students.
                      After these lectures, a girl from marketing department had an activity with students related to there morning show"Mast Morning with MAIRA" at which she show some clipings of thta show and take comments from students.
